About Us – SBC Evangelists

Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists is an association or fellowship of Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Evangelists, comprised of SBC Evangelists from states across the USA. SBC Evangelists are denominationally endorsed after a formal vetting and application process, and ascribe to Articles of Accountability from the Lausanne Covenant for Itinerant Evangelists. We ascribe to the Baptist Faith and Message as revised and voted upon by the Southern Baptist Convention at its Annual Meeting in the year 2000.

All Southern Baptist itinerant evangelists who are engaged in a legitimate evangelistic ministry which exists for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, salvation of the lost, and revival of the church shall be eligible for endorsement. Endorsement certifies that an evangelist is a recognized representative of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists. Southern Baptist Evangelists shall be members in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church which is in friendly cooperation and affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists Purpose Statement:

• To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with integrity and without compromise.

• To promote fellowship among its members.

• To provide inspiration and information to assist its members to more effectively fulfill the ministry to which they are called.

• To provide a means of expressing its convictions and positions to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and to the world.

• To provide opportunities for evangelists to be a source of inspiration to the pastors, ministers, and laymen of the Southern Baptist Convention.

• To act as a teaching instrument to share with and to encourage the Southern Baptist Convention and its pastors to recognize the scriptural gift and ministry of the evangelist, according to Ephesians 4:11-12, as a partner in fulfilling the Great Commission.

The first Constitution and By-Laws for Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists were adopted in 1959.

Subsequent updates and revisions have been approved in 1973, 1982, 1984, 1989, 1996, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2015, and 2017.
